ART COLOGNE 2023

War and peace;
Memory and forgetting

Western Europe has been relatively spared from armed multinational conflict for almost 80 years. Nevertheless, the memory of the two World Wars and the apprehension of a future conflict are recurring themes in European artistic expressions of the 20th and early 21st centuries.
Thanks to its political stability, the continent is also home to many intellectuals who had to flee the repression of their ideas in their own countries, and are refreshing this memory with their recent traumas.

On the occasion of Art Cologne 2023, Galerie Eric Mouchet has chosen among its international artists, from whom it is committed to promoting the work, a selection of works that span a century of evocations, traces of memory, denunciations and cathartic essays relating to these territorial, religious or colonial conflicts that have plunged the world into mourning and are still doing so today.
