Pierre Wat, Seconde Nature. Jacques Blin & Bertrand Hugues , catalogue d’exposition Galerie Eric Mouchet, Paris, 2020.
The view camera is at the root of Bertrand Hugues’ research into plants. His aim is to reveal what is not there, to show what is fragile, what tends to break. So he creates studies and compositions by modifying the axes of focus of the studio shots, giving them a singular perception. The use of this technique, combined with the purely silver process for black and white prints and the Fresson process for colour prints, ensures that there is no precipitation in the preparation and development of his photographic research.
