Born in Romans (26) in 1980. Lives and works in Paris.
Self-taught artist, graphic designer and sculptor, she sets out to draw up a plastic iconography of fantasies, both contemporary and from the past, around domestication (of the elements, animals and landscapes), through the exploration of both forms and materials. She regularly collaborates with a wide range of specialists (biological engineers, vulcanologists, taxonomists, etc.) and strives to highlight the complexity of living things and their actions as a principle of fundamental autonomy. The works of French artist Noémie Sauve are the result of a long-term research process, first in the field and in close dialogue with scientists, then in plastic form in the studio – such as those exhibited at the Drawing Lab (Paris) in 2024, which have their origins in two scientific expeditions, on the Fondation Tara sailing boat in 2017 and on the island of Vulcano in 2021. Investigating the fragility and resilience of coral reefs in the South Pacific or the influence of a volcano on marine biodiversity and agri-farming practices on an Aeolian island, the artist collected data, samples and traces of the colors and shapes observed in sketches, drafts or prints, and conducted numerous interviews with locals (winemakers or shepherds) and researchers (biologists, ecologists or vulcanologists).
