Palmless Manœuvres — Eva L’Hoest
For its third participation in Art Brussels, Galerie Eric Mouchet is pleased to present a solo show by Belgian artist Eva L’Hoest.
Palmless Manœuvres begins with an almost imperceptible shift: the moment when humans begin to delegate to machines not only their gestures, but the very production of meaning. A transition that does not manifest as a rupture, but as a slow dispossession.
Human action does not disappear — it relocates: into computational systems that precede us and elude us. In the space, galvanised rails trace a trajectory, evoking the museum ramp, the airport corridor — a contemporary way of directing bodies without ever imposing itself directly.
The works that make up the exhibition appear as enigmatic vestiges: anatomical archives, metals traversed by computation, volumes extracted from moving images. All materialise the same instant — the one in which the living crystallises into data.
Between palma — the palm, once a sign of destiny — and manœuvre — the hand in action — the exhibition traces this transformation: a gesture without grip, where destiny can no longer be read in the lines of the skin, but in the opaque layers of calculation.
