Tony Regazzoni was born in 1982 in the Jura Mountains. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Dijon (2005) and the École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (2006). From this rural culture, which is both preserved and overlooked, he developed links with the Queer milieu that welcomed him when he arrived in Paris. This meeting of two cultures leads to a questioning of these “poor” but “rich” aesthetics that find a certain connection with the history of kitsch and its evolution as a political and social marker.
His work is developed according to a targeted archaeology, that of a civilization turned towards conquest, performance, opulence of communication, progress and leisure, whose portrait he realizes. If today the image – whether recycled, photoshopped, filmed or even falsely “interactive” – predominates in his body of work, the installation as an immersive creation and the sculpture find an important part.
Tony Regazzoni explores celebratory imagery and popular culture through immersive installations. In 2025, he presented HIGH ENERGIES at the Galerie Éric Mouchet (Paris), expanding on his obsession with club culture and dance music. In 2024, he took part in Bande organisée (Le Nouveau Printemps, Toulouse) and Overdanse (Nuit Blanche, FRAC Île-de-France). In 2023, he exhibited at Le Voyage à Nantes with Pharaonik and Looksor. In 2022, he questioned the disappearance of nightlife clubs with On achève bien les discos (CAC Chanot, Clamart) and presented his first solo show at Galerie Éric Mouchet with La R-Évolution Française.
His solo exhibitions include Double Séjour (Clichy, 2021), La Galerie (Noisy-le-Sec, 2019), Glassbox Sud (Montpellier, 2019), Centre Pompidou (Paris, 2017), CAC Brétigny (2016), MACHETE (Mexico, 2016) and the Synagogue de Delme (2012). His work has also been shown at Lafayette Anticipations (2023), Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes (2022), Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Paris (2022), Mucem (Marseille, 2019), Nuit Blanche, Paris (2018), FIAC Hors-les-Murs (Jardin des Tuileries, 2011), Crédac, Ivry-sur-Seine (2010) and Salon de Montrouge (2009).
