On the occasion of the new exhibition of its Brussels branch, Galerie Eric Mouchet is very pleased to bring together a group show of works by Pierre Gaignard, Samir Mougas, Gwendoline Perrigueux and Tony Regazzoni. To be discovered in preview during a vernissage on Thursday January 19, 2023 from 6 to 9 pm.
On the first floor, Samir Mougas and Gwendoline Perrigueux’s sculptural objects physically take possession of the first two rooms. Samir Mougas uses paint, ceramics and even cast aluminum lacquered with automotive varnish, as objects of formal experimentation and pretexts for learning the craft of form making. Her practice consists in working with forms and references that are fed as much by contemporary advertising and marketing as by mass cultural phenomena. As for Gwendoline Perrigueux, she plays with forms and materials with jubilation. She associates in her installations foreign textures with each other, and uses their confrontations to invent sensual or playful intentions. In Brussels, we find her series of sculptures in lacquered metal and leather with evocative titles: “Lascivious”, alternately Espiègle, Polissonne, Indécise, Nonchalante and Luminous Banana. What better way to prepare for her second solo exhibition in Paris, “Fluffy Wink”, to be discovered on Saturday, January 28.
Upstairs, the works of Pierre Gaignard and Tony Regazzoni offer us a journey through places and personal stories.Bagnolet Chamanique 4K de Pierre Gaignard, a performance, video and sculpture, perpetuates the trace of a posthumous tribute, where dance and ritual celebrated the life of a friend who left too soon, but also the memory of a self-managed collective living space that now exists only in the memory of those who lived there. For Tony Regazzoni, this will be the occasion to present his series of pyrographs made for his exhibition “La R•Évolution Française” (2022). We will find the series “Auto-Route” which combines in pyrography (a popular decoration technique from the middle of the 20th century) the symbolic cars of the years 1980-2000 with views of highway sculptures, these state cultural realizations (1% artistic) developed at the time of the flourishing automobile tourism.
